At Vickers, we recognise that comprehensive training is essential for compliance and ensuring the safety of both our employees and the environment. The proper handling of hazardous substances is governed by numerous regulations, making compliance critical for all businesses involved in chemical production, packing, and shipping.

Recent Training Achievements at Vickers

Recently, our Export Clerk Dougie successfully completed the Dangerous Goods by Air, Road, and Sea course. This thorough training program, conducted by DG Solutions, a CAA-approved Dangerous Goods Training provider, provides critical insights into Dangerous Goods regulations and cargo processes.

Dougie's completion of this course equips him with a solid grasp of the CAA standards and the key topics required for compliance, critical for the safety and reliability of our operations.

Additionally, Adam, a new addition to our Despatch team, successfully completed a Dangerous Goods Awareness Course offered by Peter East Associates. This course serves as an introduction for individuals new to the field, covering essential compliance responsibilities that all employees should understand.

Through these training programs, both Dougie and Adam have learnt to navigate the complex regulations confidently, allowing them to make quick, informed decisions, helping to decrease errors and avoid potential incidents.

Core Elements of Dangerous Goods Training

For companies looking to enhance compliance and safety protocols, understanding the core elements of Dangerous Goods training is vital. The recent courses completed by our team members focused on several key topics:

  • Legislative Framework: Training covered the comprehensive regulations governing dangerous goods transport, ensuring employees understand their legal obligations.
  • Classes and Identification of Dangerous Goods: Understanding the classifications of dangerous goods is crucial since different classes come with distinct handling and transport regulations.
  • Responsibilities within the Transport Chain: Employees learn about the roles and responsibilities of everyone involved in the transportation and handling of dangerous goods, from producers to transporters.
  • Transport Documentation and Requirements: Proper training also covers the necessary transport documentation, ensuring all shipments meet regulatory standards while outlining vehicle and driver requirements for transporting dangerous goods.

The chemical industry is dynamic, with regulations frequently evolving. Continuous training guarantees that employees stay updated on new legislation and best practices. At Vickers, we prioritise fostering a culture of ongoing improvement and keeping our team well-informed. By adhering to these rigorous training standards, we are committed to maintaining high safety and compliance levels across our operations.
