Acetone is a solvent. Solvents are substances, typically a liquid, in which other materials dissolve to form a solution. Acetone is a reportable explosives precursor (The control of poisons and explosives precursors regulations 2023) and a drug precursor class 3 (The law enforcement and security (amendment) (EU Exit) regulations 2019 No. 742).
